Abstract

The subject of the work is the development of economic activity in rural municipalities located in the vicinity of the International Airport ”Katowice” in Pyrzowice. The aim of the work is to present economic activity that is directly or indirectly related to the airport. The airport generates the creation of a specific group of service activities, industrial and communication infrastructure, which leads to an increase in investment attractiveness in areas adjacent to the airport. The source material constituted literature, data collected from the REGON database, statistic data from GUS and inventory fieldwork in 2013 and 2015, as well as data collected from the airport. The final part of the work presents the International Airport as one of the factors affecting the development of economic activities. Most of the economic activity arises in the vicinity of the airport. Economic activities related to transport have the dominant role.
